It transports us back to a more innocent time, where rockets were the future and taking one to Mars seemed as easy as going to the corner store.--yet despite its ease of access, Mars never loses its mystery.

An outstanding example of a series of short stories building into a powerful and innovative novel.

Take No More
There is a collection of stories that has been my long-time favourite; it is the first thing I think about when the conversation turns to science fiction. As a child, I remember being impressed by the author's imagination. It was my first immersion in the concept of 'otherness.' As an author, I noted the atmospheric feel and the beautiful rhythm of the prose. Now I often find myself reflecting on the change in the perception of the great feat described in the stories - colonization of Mars. I feel nothing less than a sense of awe when I remember that the very concept was nothing but science fiction when I first read the book. Today is a different matter, and I still hope that I will see human footprints on Mars in my lifetime.

He is the master of the use of metaphor in his storytelling. Through my reading of his books, I have developed my practice of using metaphor as a major element of my storytelling in both fiction and non-fiction books.
